A holy venue that has got great intentions
As the Space Bar’s name might give away, it’s not quite a traditional boozer. However, being a non-profit organisation supporting local artists, actors and creatives, it was hard to resist adding this wonderful establishment to our roster. Located on the Isle of Dogs, this unique space resides inside a grade II listed church which dates back to the 1800’s. The dainty loft is inviting and intimate, and with original arched windows, you can make the most of the London sun. Or if you prefer to be outside, there’s also a vast garden. A carefully handpicked selection of wines has been curated by the current owner’s ‘Master of Wine’ wife, alongside your usual affair of pub choices such as Madri, Blue Moon, Wingman, and Aspalls. The food menu has been crafted by Head Chef, Les, who was professionally trained by John Torode and whether you’re after a traditional full-English or a jerk chicken burger, they’ve got it, and it’s delicious.
Sir Ian McKellen's approval
Hints of its history can be found all over the exterior of the building, including the charming iron-gates which adorn the Space Bar’s logo. A lovely touch. It’s on the inside that matters though, right? And with Sir Ian McKellen's signature on the wall, we think that counts for something and shows praise to the charity's efforts to support artists and creatives.
