From bombs to bouquets: a resilient treasure worth keeping

This pub has truly stood the test of time… and bombs! After being damaged by a bomb during World War II and subsequently rebuilt, it faced another challenge in 1981 when an IRA bomb targeting a passing army bus shattered all the windows. Remarkably, the pub reopened in 1988 and has been thriving ever since, nestled in this charming yet ever-changing location.
Taken over in 2023 by jovial landlords Ed and Lukasz, this pub underwent an impressive refurbishment, adding bold, characterful touches to the décor. Inside, expect to find large wooden tables, perfect for group drinks after work or a family Sunday roast, complemented by dark walls and pink accents from dried flower bouquets.
You may love this establishment for the cosy atmosphere in winter or the charming flower-filled beer garden in summer, but the real reason you'll keep coming back is their to-die-for food. Indulge in their pan-roasted salmon, Gloucester Old Spot pork, or reserve a table for their renowned Sunday roast.

The dartboard that draws the best players

Are you a dartboard fan? You’ll be spoiled at the Rising Sun, which has a dartboard space located right next to the bar. It’s such a perfect spot to play that even Māori Haupai Puha, also known as ‘Hopes,’ one of the best darts players in the world, had a go while visiting London.
