A “home from home” inspired by Desmond’s

This brick-built pub has long been part of the Peckham landscape, witnessing generations of local life, with names alternating between the Clayton Arms and the Dolls House. After 2 years of closure, the venue was revived in May 2017 as the Prince of Peckham by Clement, a community-driven publican determined to create a welcoming space for everyone. Why this moniker? It is inspired by Lee “The Peckham Prince” Stanley, a character from the 1990s TV show Desmond's, which depicted a welcoming neighbourhood barbershop, a “home from home” for people from all walks of life. Does this remind you of something? To us, yes!
Born in Nigeria and living in London since 1996, Clement places community at the centre of everything he does (what better than a pub to do so?), bridging the gap between “old Peckham” and “new Peckham”. From stout lovers who can enjoy the house stout to those who prefer the popular rum punch, there is something for everyone! The venue is also known for a diverse programming, with late night hip hop and R&B events, plus Afrobeats on weekends, keeping the energy high from start to finish.

Cheeky name, proper flavour

The Prince of Peckham serves up vibrant Caribbean flavours from White Men Can’t Jerk, a local legend. The irresistible jerk chicken with pineapple scotch bonnet jam, rice and peas, and coleslaw steals the show, while curry goat, buttermilk fried wings, and a cheeky jerk halloumi burger keep taste buds dancing. You’ll be hooked from the first bite and already counting down to your next visit!
