A pub with a rich past and a tasty present

This Lambeth gem has been a pub for over 200 years. From regulars like Charlie Chaplin’s grandfather to surviving the WWII Blitz (unlike the surrounding houses!), the walls of this establishment have truly witnessed history - and even a bit of cinema, having hosted a scene from the British gangster movie Snatch!
The current owners, a group of friends, took over during the Covid-19 restrictions and have transformed it into the welcoming establishment it is today. As soon as you step inside, you'll be in awe of the stunning wooden central bar, which is beautifully enhanced by the contrast with the white walls and large windows that create a bright, inviting atmosphere.
One of the landlords is a passionate chef, so it’s no surprise your tastebuds will be treated to a variety of delicious, plant-based meals - all prepared with seasonal produce. Wash it down with their selection of South East London beers, as the team proudly support local breweries and businesses!

Spot the legacy of Chaplin’s kin

In Lambeth, many pubs claim that Charlie Chaplin was a regular, but few can actually prove a connection to the iconic actor. The Jolly Gardeners, however, proudly hosted his grandfather as a regular – so much so that his piano is still in the pub!
