One of London’s oldest pubs

Located on the bustling Borough High Street, the Blue Maid has been part of the neighbourhood for centuries and is now one of London’s oldest pubs - so much so that it appears in Charles Dickens’ Little Dorrit and even on the 1542 Map of Southwark! But the place hasn’t always been a watering hole and has worn many hats over the years, from traditional boozer to karaoke den and shisha lounge, before finally returning to its roots thanks to the loving touch of Simon and Dav, who have created a beautiful and welcoming space for pub and beer lovers alike.
Here, minimalism and sobriety are warmed by the soft yellow light of elegant hanging lamps and wood touches all around - from wall panels and flooring to furniture - as well as leather seats in the cosy snug located at the rear. All designed to delight every guest.
This little piece of heaven might be missed by workers and tourists rushing through the area, too busy heading to or from Borough Market. But if you catch sight of its charming blue façade, take it as a sign and step in, grab a pint, and let the world rush on without you.

Supporting small and local, pouring with pride

The beautiful, stylish, and shiny pump lines, combined with a uniquely designed beer display behind the bar should give you a hint at the pub’s USP: a great selection of keg beers and cask ales from independent small breweries. Yes indeed, the team at the Blue Maid are also committed to supporting small and local businesses, just like us!
