No fuss, just good times and community

Built in 1892, this venue has always been a pub and still stands proudly in Stoke Newington. Unpretentious and full of charm, this North London boozer offers everything you'd expect from a traditional pub with a modern, tropical twist, all thanks to Katie, the landlady who took over in 2023 and gave the place a fresh lease of life with her great taste. Think central bar, soft yellow light from vintage bulbs, and lush hanging plants. Every detail helps make the space feel welcoming to everyone - families with kids, the elderly, and all in between.
Community is so central to the Birdcage that events are regularly organised to bring locals together and foster a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. From lively festivals with barbecues and local market stalls to live music nights, there’s always something happening!
Food-wise, expect traditional pub classics. No fuss, just hearty, satisfying meals: fish and chips, burgers, steaks, and of course… the all-important Sunday roast!

Chalk board to announce live music at the Birdcage, independent pub in Stoke Newington, North London

Live music for locals, by locals

Live music plays a big role at the Birdcage. Their first “Battle of the Bands” event was such a hit that more than 200 people showed up. Since then, hosting gigs has become a regular and much-anticipated affair, with local bands taking the stage every two weeks at this lively watering hole.
